Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Independence Hall, located in the heart of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is one of the most important historic buildings in the United States. Constructed between 1732 and 1753, it was originally known as the Pennsylvania State House. Today, it is best known as the site where both the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution were debated and adopted.
The building is an elegant example of Georgian architecture, with red brick walls, white trim, and a prominent clock tower. Its Assembly Room, a modest chamber with wooden chairs and green-covered tables, was the setting for some of the most significant moments in American history. On July 4, 1776, members of the Second Continental Congress met there to approve the final text of the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the colonies' freedom from British rule.
A decade later, in the summer of 1787, delegates from twelve states gathered once again at Independence Hall to draft the U.S. Constitution, creating a framework for a new national government. These events earned the building its name and cemented its place as a symbol of American democracy.
Independence Hall is now part of Independence National Historical Park and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors from around the world come to tour the building and learn about the founding of the United States. Nearby, the Liberty Bell, once housed in the bell tower of Independence Hall, continues to serve as a powerful symbol of freedom.
Preserved and carefully restored, Independence Hall is more than just a historic structure—it is a living monument to the ideals of liberty, self-governance, and the enduring belief that all people are created equal. Its legacy continues to inspire and remind Americans of their shared history and democratic foundations.

Hawaii, a Bentley, and a Magazine Cover
Back in the early days of my professional travel shoots (once it became a full-time gig) I felt like I was making up for lost time. This resulted in some questionable business decisions.
Jump cut. Oahu, Hawaii. So much potential. I have a laundry list of locations I plan on documenting across the entire island. This is going to be amazing. But you know what would make it even better? Keeping it low key in an incredibly ostentatious Bentley Continental GTC.
I was watching a lot of Top Gear at the time. I could already picture the edits. I got in touch with a luxury dealership in Honolulu and worked out the details for my shoot.
Now, at the time, I knew I'd have to sell a lot of the content just to cover my overhead and that, frankly, I was doing this first and foremost to have a story to tell.
I sold a few images after that trip, but not nearly enough to turn a profit on the shoot. Not exactly surprising.
Two years pass.
I have multiple galleries from the Oahu shoot online collecting casual hits. Out of the blue, I get a message about licensing from a marketing firm in Australia.
We chat. We hit it off. The idea expands. Another month passes.
I get an email notifying me that my Oahu shoot has turned into a multi page spread and that they'd like to offer me the cover story for the winter edition of the Qantas / Jetstar in-flight magazine. Highlights of that little road trip I took is now going to be in every seatback in Oceania.
Needless to say, the shoot finally turned a profit.
