Byodo-In Temple, Oahu

Located near the Eastern Shore of Oahu in the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park, the Byodo-In Temple in Hawaii is a non-denomination shrine and half-sized replica of the Byodo-In Buddhist Temple found in Kyoto, Japan. It was constructed in 1968 to commemorate the centennial of the first Japanese immigrants to come to Hawaii.

During my road trip around Oahu, I stopped here to tour the lush gardens and temple. Massive koi ponds surround the Byodo-In Temple, and as onlookers tossed fish food into the ponds the koi were stirred into a playful frenzy. The incredible scenery made it easy to get lost in my thoughts, and as I wandered I continued to marvel at the epic surroundings I found myself exploring.  

Hive Artists' Hub in Medicine Hat

Last week during another round of Downtown Art Walk in Medicine Hat, Alberta, I toured the Hive Artists' Hub on 2nd Street. The location was buzzing as visitors toured the studio space of local artists and admired the work on display. Here's a brief look at what I captured behind the scenes of this local creative hub and exhibition space.

Enslow in Medicine Hat

Jay Bowcott and Brady Enslen make up the alt-country duo Enslow, who have been performing every Friday night at the Silver Buckle in Medicine Hat, Alberta. Paired up with J.R. Louis, and Terrence Roberto on drums, this local super-group puts on a brilliant live show. Between a few drinks and lots of banter, I took some pictures.
